DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland, WA, invites applications for a full-time faculty position of Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering. This is a career-track position with a primary focus on teaching a broad range of undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, and a secondary focus on teaching graduate courses in the faculty member’s area of research expertise. Career-track assistant professors also engage in other areas of faculty activity, such as service or research, commensurate with the scope of their appointment. Recent PhD graduates, and doctoral students who will graduate by August 2025, and who are enthusiastic about teaching, are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide outstanding teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, mentor undergraduate students, make contributions to professional and university service, and participate broadly in the growth and continuous improvement of the school's ABET-accredited BSEE degree program. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with engineering professors in SEAS and at other WSU campuses on educational and research projects.

ENVIRONMENT
The new faculty member will join the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS), an integral unit within the university’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. Among WSU’s newest academic units, SEAS offers degree programs in computer science, cybersecurity, and civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering at the Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, and encourages interdisciplinary initiatives. All undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET. The School currently has 344 students and expects continued enrollment increases. SEAS produces profession-ready graduates by combining excellence in classroom coursework with project-based experiential learning in the form of laboratory experiences, industry-sponsored projects, paid internships and co-ops, and participation in research with their professors.
SEAS actively collaborates with the nearby Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), a world-class Department of Energy research enterprise that advances the frontiers of science and engineering and offers numerous internship and project opportunities to our students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach and contribute to the further development of undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering
Contribute to advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students
Participate in service to the school, college and university through activities such as committee work, recruitment, and interaction with industry
Advance the college's commitment to diversity and multiculturalism among its faculty, staff, and students through service, teaching, and community outreach
Collaborate with other faculty throughout the school, college, and university
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate in electrical engineering or closely related field prior to the hire date
Ability to teach and develop undergraduate electrical engineering courses across a broad range of subjects
Ability to teach graduate courses in an area of research expertise
Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues in both written and verbal forms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching electrical engineering courses
Prior involvement in the development of electrical engineering curricula
Ability to initiate novel teaching approaches to advance the pedagogy of electrical engineering

Assistant Professor 9-Month Salary: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced
Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.
Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
