Adjunct Faculty, Intensive Spanish Summer Institute

Details:Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) welcomes instructors who are willing to teach in our Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI) for one week typically near the end of July. ISSI courses are Spanish courses, taught either predominantly or completely in Spanish. Prospective instructors should be able to teach in a illustrate a commitment to fostering a learning environment where resources are devoted to developing opportunities for students to break barriers and thrive as scholars and community members.
- The teaching assignment will be for one week at the end of July, with instructors being on campus from 7:30am until 5pm. (There is a 90 minute lunch break.)
- The assignments are based on departmental need on an annual basis.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction, teach assigned courses in the Intensive Spanish Summer Institute, Spanish discipline’s curriculum.
- Provide instruction for assigned courses. This includes preparation for in-class or on-line/distance education activities, evaluation of students’ work, consultation with students outside of class and/or on-line, maintenance of currency in the subjects taught.
- Maintain accurate class and other records required by the district.
- Submit, when due, attendance rosters and grade reports.
- Follow course outlines as filed in the instruction offices.
- Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the District.
- Provide each student with a written course syllabus at the beginning of the course.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources for information on counseling and other student services.
- Assist students by providing advice on requirements for successful achievement in the members’ area of expertise.
- Maintain an effective classroom environment and workspace.
- Work cooperatively within the college community.
- Foster a positive working environment that is free from harassment, prejudice and/or bias.
- Demonstrate a respect for the dignity of everyone.

Minimum Qualification:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Requirements: All faculty must meet state-adopted minimum qualifications or the locally established equivalencies.
Spanish
- Master’s in the language being taught
- OR Bachelor’s the language being taught AND Master’s in another language or linguistics
- OR the equivalent
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Opened in 1975, Lake Tahoe Community College is a two-year, public institution offering associate degrees, certificates, career education and continuing education program. LTCC is focused on providing outstanding educational opportunities for every student in a personal learning environment.
LOCATION
South Lake Tahoe, California is a small community of nearly 30,000 located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. The beautiful 164-acre, wooded campus less than 2 miles from the lake shore. At 6,229 feet above sea level, LTCC is the highest altitude college in California. The campus is near bike trails, ski resorts, Desolation Wilderness, and Emerald Bay State Park with miles of hiking trails, environmental education, and recreation.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
With over forty associate degree options in addition to career and technical certificates, students can pursue a wide variety of interests such as a fire academy program and offerings in allied health, business administration, commercial music, criminal justice, digital media, and wilderness education. Transfer degrees prepare students for admission to California State University campuses.
