The Lipman Fellows Program resides in the McNulty Leadership Program and offers graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania the opportunity to learn about the social sector through direct participation in the philanthropic process. During the execution of real-world work, students explore the leadership dimensions of teamwork, communication, group decision-making, and emotional intelligence while employing technical skills such as impact analysis, market research, and project management. The staff-facilitated, team-based structure of the work and diverse, multidisciplinary composition of the Lipman Fellow community allow students to collaborate and challenge themselves in a safe learning environment.

Job Description

The Associate Director of the Lipman Family Prize and Lipman Fellows Program (Associate Director) is primarily responsible for the strategy and execution of the annual cycles for both the philanthropic prize selection process and the fellowship program. The Lipman Family Prize at the University of Pennsylvania recognizes and amplifies the impact of organizations devoted to positive social impact and creating sustainable solutions to social and economic challenges. This annual global prize celebrates leadership and innovation through the careful study of impact and transferability of practices. The Prize is unique for its core emphasis on education, in its partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, in the integration of the Prize process into the educational experience of Penn students, and in the commitment to focusing the award on aspects that can be shared with and replicated at other organizations.

Reporting to the Director of the Lipman Family Prize, the Associate Director will (1) Take full administrative and operational responsibility for the annual prize selection process including design and delivery of the multi-phased application, review, and communication process; (2) Oversee the work product and educational experience of the graduate students serving as the McNulty Leadership Program's Lipman Fellows, taking lead in the strategic development, design, and delivery of the year-long interdisciplinary leadership development fellowship program; (3) Manage in-person, hybrid, and virtual event planning details, from program development to execution, and from small to large scale; (4) Partner with Lipman team to support the post-award selection process and the winner organizations' on-going relationship with the Prize and Penn; and (5) Help build and support the Lipman Prize network including supporting the activities of the Steering Committee for the Prize. The Associate Director will directly supervise one (1) full-time program coordinator.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree is required, and a Master's Degree strongly preferred, with 5-7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree is an asset when leading a program with graduate students.
