The Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science at Bethel University (IN) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty member in Physics.
The Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science at Bethel University (IN) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty member in Physics starting August 2025. Bethel is an intentionally Christ-centered institution which hires faculty who demonstrate a strong Christian faith. The Department offers a Physics Education major, a Physics minor, a 3-2 Engineering program (in partnerships with Notre Dame and Trine) and an Engineering and Management major, alongside programs in mathematics and computer science. The successful candidate will be broadly knowledgeable in Physics and will likely teach a combination of the following: Calculus-based Physics I, II, and III, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Quantum Physics, most with labs. Other possible teaching assignments could include (depending on expertise and interest) mathematics or computer science courses, the Science and Faith Seminar, Independent Studies in Physics, or other related courses. Eligible candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Physics; ABD considered. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., Engineering) who have substantial graduate credit in Physics might also be considered.
Job responsibilities include twelve load hours of teaching undergraduates each semester, as well as advising students, serving on committees and otherwise supporting the mission of Bethel University. An ability to engage students in undergraduate research is an added strength.
