Department Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the overall operational efficiency of the Office of Student Services in the College of Nursing (CON). Position is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the competencies of student services staff. Ongoing training programs will be developed and delivered to maintain high standards of staff performance and service proficiency. Develops and maintains Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs) for student services.
Ensures continuous improvement of processes to enhance the student experience and their academic success to provide comprehensive support for students at the pre-nursing, undergraduate, and graduate levels in the CON. Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs to develop novel, efficient processes and assists them in managing the oversight of programs including, but not limited to: admissions, advising, scholarships, student success initiatives and resources, student recruitment, retention, and engagement. Provides insight to change management needed and provides support to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in leading programs, projects, and special events.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Student Success to ensure the success of students across all CON degrees and programs, helps to address the pre-nursing DFW rates and ensures retention rates in all programs remain high within the College of Nursing. Collaboratively develops initiatives with the Director of Student Success to engage students and promote student success within the College and with pre-nursing and BSN students and keep NCLEX pass rates high.
Serves as a resource to students by overseeing the CON Emergency Funds request process and referral to other supporting departments such as financial aid, and the university counseling center. Provides support to the Scholarship Committee and serves as a liaison between the foundation, the university and the college for scholarships.
Responsible for the recruitment, training, and ongoing supervision of approximately 35 students per semester in the CON Student Ambassador Program, with the Engage-100 and LLC Mentors, and with all student interns to ensure effective use of the program and to ensure their professional representation of the college. Serves as the direct supervisor for the CON Student Ambassador Program, the Pre-Nursing Pathway Badge, and coordinates the College of Nursing related Registered Student Organizations (RSO's) and other student groups within the college. Supervises and manages student engagement initiatives, ensuring that faculty are up to date on FSU policies and procedures regarding the Registered Student Organizations. Assists students within these groups with marketing and event management as needed. Develops orientation materials to ensure all students in these programs are adequately prepared and in compliance with university policies. Serves as a resource to the RSOs faulty directors. Collaborates with college leadership for undergraduate pinning, DNP recognition and other college wide events. Manages student volunteer requests from community members and from the Student Affairs Committee.
Serves as the direct supervisor to the Admission Coordinator and serves as a resource to this position ensuring the process for the limited access application into the CON is managed effectively and accurately to ensure a seamless limited access application process. Provides NursingCAS support to all colleagues in the CON. Ensures timely and effective implementation, and the ongoing management of NursingCAS for both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing. Position serves as a change agent and assists with strategies to continually increase the number of applicants and enrollment in the CON. Position will lead the development and implementation of student services policies and ensure clear communication to students and staff regarding the policies.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Student Services, the role oversees data collection and reporting on admissions, enrollment, retention, and graduation to inform strategic decisions and evaluate service effectiveness. Manages enrollment for the college, course demands, and provides reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs regarding enrollment numbers. Monitors student tracking for success and enrollment capacity. Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to ten years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at an equivalent rate.)
