The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The school is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
Job Duties:
The School of Music seeks qualified applicants for a renewable one-year fixed-term Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor faculty position in the Theory, Composition and Musicology department beginning August 2025. Primary responsibilities will be to teach composition and music theory/musicianship. Additional responsibilities, based on candidate's areas of interest/expertise may include music history or service courses for the general undergraduate population. Other appropriate research/creative activities and service to the university, community and profession are encouraged.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Master's degree in music composition, theory, or related degree for appointment as a Teaching Instructor; or PhD in music composition, theory, or related degree may be considered for appointment as a Teaching Assistant Professor. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from an appropriately accredited institution. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in collegiate music teaching to both music majors and students in the general population.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
PhD in music composition, theory, or related degree is preferred.
