Position Overview
The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks periodontists to apply for a temporary part-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Division of Periodontology. The need for this position will be reevaluated annually.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an active academic program and contribute to the mission of the College and the Division of Periodontology through the pursuit of teaching, research, and service. The primary responsibilities of this position will be clinical supervision and possible didactic lectures, with other duties including support of the overall mission of the division through teaching, service, and contribution to the college’s continuing education programs.
The successful candidate will perform clinical teaching, possibly give lectures, and serve on other educational functions if necessary. The candidate shall demonstrate expertise in non-surgical as well as surgical periodontal treatment as well as implant-related procedures.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Performance Objectives
The faculty hired into this position will be expected to:
- Supervision, instruction, and demonstration in the dental student clinic
- Supervision, instruction, and demonstration in the graduate periodontal clinic
- Giving didactic lectures
- Assist other faculty members for specific tasks
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Qualified candidates must have a DDS/DMD and/or equivalent degree and a periodontal certificate of advanced education in periodontics from a CODA-accredited program. Candidates also must be eligible for a full or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at the Ohio State Dental Board website.
Desired: A MS/or PhD degree is desired.

Initiated in 1949, the postdoctoral program in advanced periodontics at Ohio State has always been a combination of clinical training with graduate education.
