The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (OSUCOD) and Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) seek applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of associate professor or professor for the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at OSUCOD and the Department of Dentistry at NCH. The primary responsibilities will include didactic teaching and clinical instruction and supervision of residents as well as dental and dental hygiene students in all sites of patient care. This candidate will also provide direct patient care in a hospital-based practice, participate in scholarly activity, and rotate on-call duties with other full-time faculty. Other duties include supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university, college, and hospital governance, and contributing to the college’s continuing education programs.

Successful performance is reviewed based on:
·Promote evidence-based teaching skills in an education setting, proficiency in prosthodontics, and a strong track record of scholarly activity.
·Demonstrate a passion for student education.
·Apply advanced technology to enhance teaching and learning.
·Participate in teaching activities consistent with division goals.
·Demonstrate effective teaching skills through student and peer reviews.
·May serve as course director which includes preparation and distribution of course materials, management of lecture/laboratory schedules, and conducting and grading of all examinations.
·Support a model for dental education that includes the incorporation of innovative technologies, interdisciplinary education and patient care, and evidence-based dentistry.
·Provide interdisciplinary mentoring to students.
·Demonstrate collaboration between college divisions.
·Participation in college and/or university committees.
·Membership in professional organizations and contributions to professional activities outside of the university.
·Live The Ohio State University’s Shared Values.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree, a certificate of pediatric dentistry from a CODA-accredited program and be a candidate for board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. They also must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board and sedation permit, to be credentialed at the OSUCOD, and to obtain a medical staff appointment at NCH. Desired: Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and experience in the application of advanced pediatric dentistry education and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree. Board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is highly desirable.

Department Information
Its Department of Dentistry, with Sections of Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, provides the full range of dental and ancillary services in a 30-chair dental clinic that is complemented by dedicated dental surgery operating rooms, all of which utilize Epic Wisdom and digital radiography. The Department sees a high volume of patients for ambulatory clinic visits, dental surgeries, sedations, emergency department visits, and provides care for inpatients. The pediatric dentistry residency training program is CODA-approved for 20 residents with NCH serving as the primary clinical training site.
The College
The College of Dentistry (CoD) distinguishes itself nationally by engaging faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the country in a host of experiences that provide enriching opportunities. The College of Dentistry is Ohio’s only state-supported dental school, and it educates more than 60% of the state’s dentists. Comprised of ten divisions, the College supports nine advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. In pre-doctoral clinical education, eight small group practice clinics that focus on comprehensive care will provide an ideal environment for dental and dental hygiene students to work in a vertically integrated model for delivering care.
