The IT Manager Sr. will manage a team of Business System Analysts and Developers within Applications & Information Services (AIS), a unit within the University's central Information Systems & Computing (ISC) organization. The role includes overseeing staff in the planning, acquiring, developing, and maintaining the university's core business and student support systems. Oversees projects, day-to-day operations and activities; sets policies and procedures, technical standards and methods, and priorities. Manages the assignment of work to staff to implement software solutions, ensuring adherence to the defined business requirements, schedule and budget defined via collaboration with the clients in the schools and centers across the university. Maintains accountability for the team's results. Reports to leadership on information system plans, projects, performance, and related matters. The role includes resource management of staff including goal setting, assessment of performance and formal feedback to direct reports. This position will manage a team dedicated to supporting business applications for clients in Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). The portfolio consists of Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Community and Salesforce Marketing Cloud products as well as Java based custom applications and Talend integrations.Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Manage a complex Salesforce platform implementation and auxiliary applications used by Development and Alumni Relations to raise substantial revenue annually in support of Penn's "In Principle In Practice" mission.
- Manage the work of application developers, business systems analysts, data analysts and contractors, planning and assigning resources to tasks, setting priorities, providing technical guidance, and work process guidance in areas such as scoping work, clarifying requirements, estimating, code review, testing, deployment practices and daily operational support for systems
- Provide technical leadership and participate in strategy planning for team to further leverage the Salesforce platform across the university.
- Stay current on developments in Salesforce platform and third party solutions.
- Interact with other units within ISC at large on services provided, technical coordination and project planning for the delivery of the university's core business and/or student support systems. Collaborate with clients regularly and provide technical expertise in defining, prioritizing, and delivering software solutions for short-term and long-term assignments.
- Hire and develop staff and identify ongoing training and skills improvement for staff to stay current in emerging technologies.
- Establish work goals for staff that align with ISC's goals. Monitor and evaluate employees' performance, and provide regular timely feedback and constructive guidance for continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Experience in leading resource management of enterprise applications development/support staff, including quality assessment, performance management, work prioritization, and assignment.
- Experience collaborating with client organizations in creating an application support plan.
- Experience as a manager, developer, or analyst on a large-scale Salesforce implementation.
- Experience and willingness to work on mission-critical, highly available solutions requiring on-call support outside of standard business hours.
- Must be a high-performing self-starter who can prioritize, organize, and complete multiple concurrent work assignments on schedule and with the expected level of quality.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience leading a combined functional/technical team using agile methodologies.
- Salesforce administrator and/or developer certification(s).
- Experience working with a fundraising enterprise.
- Experience leading technical solutions in a higher education environment.
