Job Summary

The College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Chair in the Department of Technology (TEC). We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative chair to lead a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the department, which include Computer Systems Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Graphic Communications Technology, Sustainable & Renewable Energy, and Technology and Engineering Education. The Chair is responsible for strategic leadership, fiscal management, curriculum development and review, personnel recruitment, enrollment management, department accreditations, assessment, advancement, and oversight of the teaching and research laboratories. The Chair will encourage and support high quality research, teaching, and service, and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the Department’s mission and vision. The Chair will develop and maintain partnerships within and outside the university, as well as promote the Department’s programs to alumni, businesses, government agencies, and other educational institutions. The preferred start date for this position is July 1, 2025.

Salary, Rank and Tenure: The position is a twelve-month tenure track appointment. The budgeted salary for this position is a minimum of $150,000 over 12 months. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. The Department of Technology:
The Department of Technology at Illinois State University has 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty, approximately 570 undergraduate students, and 70 graduate students. The department offers undergraduate majors in Computer Systems Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Graphic Communications Technology, Sustainable & Renewable Energy, and Technology and Engineering Education. At the graduate level, the department offers a M.S. in Technology with sequences in Project Management, Quality Management and Analytics, and STEM Education and Leadership, and certificates in Project Management, Quality Management and Analytics, and STEM Education and Leadership. TEC program accreditations include the American Council for Construction Education, the Accrediting Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications, the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, and the Engineering Technology program is in the process of initial accreditation by the Engineering and Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Minimum of $150,000

Required Qualifications

1) A doctoral degree in an area appropriate to the Department of Technology,
2) Academic achievement that merits appointment with tenure at the rank of associate or full professor (full professor preferred).
3) A demonstrated ability in working and communicating effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
4) A demonstrated ability and willingness to provide vision and leadership for a department with a diversity of programs.
5) Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
