Job Description:
The LIGO Research Group at the University of Florida lead by Dr. Sergey Klimenko, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in gravitational wave astronomy and gravitational wave data analysis. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.We are looking for a scientist who is willing to take a leading role in the gravitational wave searches conducted by LIGO and Virgo detectors, and actively contribute to the rapidly growing area of gravitational wave astrophysics.
The UF LIGO group consists of seven faculty members, several research scientists, and graduate students. The group is a member of the LIGO Scientific collaboration and one of the major contributors to the design, development, and construction of LIGO detectors. The UF LIGO group maintains a vigorous research program in many areas of gravitational wave physics. The successful candidate is expected to conduct searches for gravitational waves from compact binary coalescence and burst sources with the advanced LIGO detectors, provide public alerts for observed GW candidate events, perform analysis of LIGO data, work on the development of tools for the gravitational wave data analysis, and make a contribution to the monitoring and characterization of LIGO data.

The initial appointment is for one year with an anticipated extension for two more years. The position is available starting November 2023. The position will remain open until filled.
Expected Salary:
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.
Minimum Requirements:
Ph.D. in Physics or a related area
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in gravitational wave physics, astrophysics, statistics, signal processing, and computing is desirable.
