Director of the LGBTQ Center - Office of Student Equity and Inclusion

    Georgetown University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Resource Center provides various educational programs, advocacy initiatives, community building opportunities, and celebratory events to Georgetown students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Inspired by the Catholic and Jesuit principles of respect for the dignity of all, cura personalis, and as part of the Office of Student Equity and Inclusion (OSEI), the center is committed to co-creating a safer, more inclusive and welcoming environment for all Hoyas and promoting better understanding and integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion with the entire campus community.

    The Director of the LGBTQ Center at Georgetown University is a key leadership role responsible for providing direction, vision, and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ students on the Main Campus. They are responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive educational programs to address the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community on campus. Their key responsibilities are:

    Leadership and Vision
    • Provide visionary leadership for the LGBTQ Center, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ students.
    • Develop and articulate a strategic vision for enhancing LGBTQIA+ inclusivity aligned with Jesuit and Catholic traditions.
    • Work with the Office of Advancement on continued philanthropic support for the Center.


    Program Development, Implementation, & Assessment
    • Develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives to enhance student leadership, growth, and development throughout the academic year.
    • Design and oversee year-long curricular and academic initiatives focused on LGBTQIA+ issues, fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and acceptance.
    • Manage and oversee the LGBTQ Resource Center budget for programming and events.


    Student Support and Services
    • Provide comprehensive support services to LGBTQIA+ students, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
    • Collaborate with the campus community to offer resources, counseling, and assistance related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.


    Campus Education and Advocacy
    • Serve as a campus-wide resource on LGBTQIA+ issues, conducting class presentations, training sessions, and workshops during New Student Orientations, Residential Life events, and other relevant platforms.
    • Advocate for LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and awareness within the campus community, fostering a culture of acceptance and understanding.


    Representation, Collaboration, Advancement, and Alumni Relations
    • Represent the LGBTQ Center at Divisional, campus, and national contexts, advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights and issues.
    • Collaborate with other university departments, student organizations, and external partners to create a supportive network for LGBTQIA+ students.
    • Serve as principal liaison with the Center and development work via ongoing donor stewardship, cultivation, and partnering
    • Travel to individual and group meetings with donors


    Work Interactions

    Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Equity and Inclusion, the Director of the LGBTQ Resource Center supervises the Center's Assistant Director. As well, they serve on a leadership team within the Office of Student Equity and Inclusion (OSEI) and function in the role with an intersectional lens.

    Requirements and Qualifications
    • Master's degree in a related field - e.g., Social Work, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration - preference for Doctorate or terminal degree
    • At least 5 years of experience in LGBTQIA+ (especially trans and nonbinary) student support services, program development, budget management, and leadership roles within higher education
    • In-depth knowledge of LGBTQIA+ issues, intersectionality, and social justice - with a strong understanding of Jesuit and Catholic traditions
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders
    • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for all students


    Work Mode Designation

    Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
    $66,783.00 - $126,720.23

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
