Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the collection, processing, and analysis of soil and water samples in support of scientific research, with primary responsibility for data collection for the Mined Wetland Restoration project. They are expected to have a limited role in the analysis of data for the project as well. In addition, the Technician will also be responsible for routine laboratory support duties, including but not limited to: glassware cleaning and acid washing, grinding and sieving of soil and plant material for other research project, filtration of water and soil extracts, and organization and cleaning of laboratory spaces.

• Knowledge of basic soil sampling and processing
• Familiarity with analytical laboratory safety and practices
• Familiarity with basic soil science principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Ability lift and carry 20lbs
• Driving for >1hr at a time.
• Ability to walk long distances over rough terrain, including wetland environments
• Ability to work at a laboratory bench space for extended periods (>4hrs)
