The Residence Life Coordinator will oversee student residents in a 100-bed apartment-style student housing facility. Support the administration and operation of student housing. Provide an environment that supports the mission of the college and oversee the cultivation of a positive learning environment and an engaging living and learning community. Must live in Seahawk Landing.
The Resident Life Coordinator must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of Lamar State College Port Arthur; work independently according to established schedules and to complete assignments and projects, as per defined timelines; establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, College employees and the public; commitment to discretion and confidentiality, with demonstrated good judgment when handling difficult issues; work independently as well as a team member within the department and with others; excellent customer service skills, including the ability to interact with employees, students, parents, volunteers, and the public in a positive, professional manner; remain tactful and professional during busy and stressful times; good critical-thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience working in higher education
- One (1) year of experience working in college student environment or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work independently with little direction.
- Demonstrated organizational skills in handling, directing, and prioritizing multiple and complex assignments/projects and maintaining records.
- Proficient in the use of e‐mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
- Demonstrated initiative and creativity in facilitating workshops and training
- Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to triage and set priorities.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in multi-tasking and responding to various issues.

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
Supervisory experience
Two (2) years of experience in student housing or similar environment.
$15.00/hour
Work Hours:20 hours per week, plus on-call
Essential Job Functions:Provide direct supervision to Resident Assistants (RA).
Essential Job Functions:Recruit, select, and train Resident Assistants.
Essential Job Functions:Complete administrative paperwork and reports for student.
Essential Job Functions:Promote student housing to current and prospective students.
Essential Job Functions:Regularly collaborate with Student Services, Student Activities, Campus Safety, and ITEX to help with compliance, activities, and initiatives as well as address concerns.
Essential Job Functions:Participate in college-wide recruitment events, campus visits, Seahawk Saturday, Homecoming, etc.
Essential Job Functions:Provide support to student residents and help address and mediate concerns, challenges, or disagreements.
Essential Job Functions:Submit early alerts on students of concern.
Essential Job Functions:Serve as student conduct officer for violations within student housing and handle administrative tasks that include processing incident reports, assigning and tracking sanctions, and maintaining accurate student conduct records.
Essential Job Functions:Conduct weekly walk-throughs and schedule meetings with RA and ITEX as needed.
Essential Job Functions:Develop student housing handbook and processes.
Essential Job Functions:Develop and present programs to students as required by Dean of Student Services.
Essential Job Functions:Serve on an on-call rotation that requires you to be in the residence hall two (2) weekday nights per week and two (2) weekends per month.
Essential Job Functions:Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
