Job SummaryThe Division of Information Technology (IT) manages the majority of Valdosta State University's network and communications, and computing technologies. Our purpose is to support the university's mission of teaching and learning, research, and service by expanding access to a sound, secure, and sustainable technology infrastructure in terms of business intelligence, instructional technology, information systems and security, networking, and client support.
This position will be responsible for the administration of computer systems.
ResponsibilitiesTypical Allocation of Duties:
Install, test, maintain, and monitor - 20%
Install, test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems.
Troubleshoot malfunctions - 20%
Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functioning.
Confer with clients - 20%
Confer with clients regarding the nature or information processing and computational needs.
Coordinate and link - 20%
Coordinate and link computer systems to increase compatibility and so information can be shared.
Develop and implement plans - 20%
Analyze needs and plans, designs, and implements computer system to meet those needs.
Supervisor Expectations
- Manages custom Microsoft Teams requests for students' VSU online courses.
- Supports the virtual desktop environment used in student labs, classroom, and online courses.
- Develops and supports user account automation scripts that establish student access to resources using PowerShell.
- Creates and manages email address aliases used by students, faculty, and staff.
- Support and maintain Windows Servers with Microsoft SQL Server installations.
- Support identity access systems such as Active Directory, Entra ID, and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Troubleshoot issues with both public and private cloud systems (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) using Azure preferred or similar cloud providers such as GCP or AWS.
- Assist with the monitoring of identity and endpoint infrastructure.
- Assist with compliance, inventory, and security reporting.
- Assist with knowledge sharing, documentation, and training with identity management services.
- Assist with project planning on various Information Technology projects.
- Provide customer service to aide faculty, staff, and students.
Required Experience
Associate's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related work experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
