Summary of Position: Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University, a leading seminary in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition and the official seminary of The Wesleyan Church, seeks a passionate and innovative faculty member for a full-time teaching faculty position to begin July 1, 2025 (pending final budgetary approval). This is an open-discipline role, welcoming applicants with expertise in Homiletics, Intercultural Studies, Biblical Studies (New Testament), Systematic Theology, or other ministry-related fields. We are looking for a dynamic and versatile scholar-practitioner who resonates deeply with our mission to equip Christian leaders for missional ministry locally and globally.Please prepare a cover letter, a one-page statement summarizing your philosophy of seminary education within the Wesleyan tradition, and a curriculum vitae (including education; relevant teaching, ministry, and volunteer experience; scholarship and publications; and references). Duties and Responsibilities
- 60% - A teaching load of 21 credit hours per 12-month contract period
- 10% - Oversight of relevant courses within the faculty member’s academic discipline; development of additional course offerings within the discipline, and related subject areas
- 10% - Additional teaching in the areas of Christian ministry and spiritual formation
- 10% - Contribution to program assessment and review processes
- 10% - Relevant institutional committee work and service, and relevant scholarly activity
Note: This position requires relocation to the region and regular presence on IWU’s campus in Marion, Indiana
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
- PhD, DMin, or equivalent terminal degree in a theological or ministry-related discipline (e.g. Homiletics, Intercultural Studies, New Testament, Systematic Theology, or a closely related field) from an accredited institution
Experience
- A deep commitment to and heart for the local church and training pastors and Christian leaders for ministry
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively, especially online, at the graduate level, with a student-centered approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse communities and cultures
- Enthusiastic embrace of the Wesleyan tradition and ability to function well within a learning community hosted by The Wesleyan Church
- Adept with educational technologies such as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), online learning management systems, and other supplemental tools (e.g. audio and/or video recording).
