Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is looking for a Lead Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) Architect to join our Applications team!
The Lead CRM Architect is an advanced professional role that will contribute to creating and maintaining the CRM strategy while collaborating with several IS&T and client team members, including with university leadership. The Lead CRM Architect requires deep expertise and experience in the architecture, configuration, and development of Salesforce.com CRM and Marketing solutions. Expertise and experience with other CRM platforms leveraged in Higher Education such as Blackbaud, Slate, and Liaison is also highly desirable but not required.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and/or participate in projects with varying complexity across the University/Multiple Departments, requiring CRM platforms to ensure that architecture, design, and operational supportability are aligned with expectations.
- Oversee the delivery of typical project deliverables and tasks including solution approach documentation, architecture/design/security reviews, and creation or update of CRM architectural artifacts based on implemented solution.
- Evaluate, explore and introduce new solutions, processes/approaches, techniques, technologies, and industry standards. Lead the creation of developer guidelines and prototypes for CRM platform configuration, application development, common frameworks, reusable components, and reference architectures. Review CRM related designs and completed development work. Advise and contribute in the creation and evolution of the CRM development and release process.
- Lead the establishment and execution of architectural processes and procedures to develop and evolve architectural artifacts and deliverables that represent the as-is, transitional and to-be states of the CRM landscape.
- Participate in the establishment of the strategy by which CRM platforms will improve, evolve, and more efficiently support academic, administrative, and technical requirements.
- Coach and mentor technical staff.
- Invest time learning/enhancing skills related to CRM platforms by active participation in
- Participate in operational support and maintenance of CRM platforms and applications where advanced architectural or technical expertise is needed.
- Make recommendations for the adoption of architectural standards through participation on the IS&T Architecture Review Board. Specifically make recommendations on the establishment of CRM platforms and applications best practices ensuring high-quality and operationally sustainable deliverables.

Required Skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in computer science, Information Systems, or other related field. Masters degree preferred.
- 8 or more years of IT work experience or the equivalent with demonstrated knowledge in Salesforce.com. Preferably multiple implementations. Higher Ed implementations is desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of Salesforce development, best practices, and design patterns Force.com, Visualforce, Apex, SOQL, custom objects, workflows, triggers, Force.com IDE, migration tools, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Salesforce APIs (bulk API, Metadata API), Web Services (SOAP, REST), e-mail integration
- Advanced knowledge of integrating Salesforce with 3rd party systems using web services and app exchange apps
- Advanced understanding, adoption, and utilization of declarative customizations versus programmatic customizations
- Knowledge of Higher Education and related Salesforce.com standards (e.g. Education Cloud, Education Data Architecture)
- Expertise and experience with non-Salesforce CRM platforms leveraged in Higher Education such as Blackbaud, Slate, and Liaison is also highly desirable.
- Experience with fundamental programming concepts, frameworks, languages and technologies such as SQL, Java, C#, JSP, ASP, JavaScript, .NET, XML, JSON, HTML5, CSS, JSON is strongly desired.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Understanding of project management concepts and frameworks such as Scrum and waterfall
- Experience and/or certification in ITIL service management practices is desirable.
- Salesforce Architect, Developer and Administration Certifications strongly preferred.
- Experience working on multiple projects as a technology leader or frequently as the subject matter expert.
- Experience working on projects/issues of medium to high complexity that require demonstrated knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior technical staff.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business partners within the University to elicit the information necessary for architecture and technical design.
