Job Purpose: IT Support instructor to steward a student-centric, competency-based education experience.
Location: Remote, various locations throughout California
Salary Range: $70/hour to $90/hour depending on qualifications, experience and
education.

Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Department Chair, Technology, the Adjunct Instructor plays a crucial role in facilitating a competency-based learning environment that promotes social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Adjunct Instructor leverages IT Support experience to instruct core concepts and skills customized and personalized to student learning. Integral to the role is the Adjunct Instructor’s ability to be responsive to a student’s unique needs and to continuously engage students early and often. Adjunct Instructors provide effective and substantive feedback that promotes mastery of program outcomes. Instructors provide guidance and encouragement and mentor students to be successful learners and workforce ready.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Acts as a steward for carrying out Calbright’s mission and strategic vision by demonstrating effective and consistent commitment to equity-centered, competency-based education
- Provide consistent, timely, quality, substantive, and constructive feedback to students.
- Monitors student progress and proactively offers support at key points of the student journey.
- Provides expertise in assigned content area and maintains current knowledge in their field.
- Fosters student learning through innovative, effective teaching practices.
- Responds with urgency to meet student needs and communicates professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the Calbright community.
- Uses technology-based teaching and communication platforms to aid students in the development of competencies.
- Collaborates with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student-centric atmosphere.
- Assess and validate student work based on mastery of industry skills and demonstration of knowledge.
- Encourage student engagement with peers, the instructor, and the learning resources
- Appropriately document student engagement, outreach, and interventions.
- Offer weekly office hours, web chats, or learning sessions
- Communicate with students using University-designated systems and through university-assigned email accounts
- Adhere to College policies and procedures, including the completion of mandatory training
- Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience mentoring, training, or teaching adults
- Expertise in IT Support specific skills and maintains currency in the field
- Demonstrated ability to customize instructional support for adults with a variety of needs and educational backgrounds.
- Strong understanding, adherence and promotion of the tenets of Calbright’s competency-based education model.
- Technological competency: Proficiency with Google Suite (or similar) applications, virtual instructional platforms, and collaboration tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking and writing style.
- Extraordinary customer service orientation
- Well organized - conscientious and thorough with detail.
- Ability to use data to make decisions.
- Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff and faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree; AND
- Three to five years of industry-relevant work experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to work a student-friendly schedule (evenings/weekends).
Desired Qualifications
- Current A+ Industry aligned certification(s)
- Interdisciplinary background with ability to teach across multiple disciplines aligned programs.
- Experience applying social and emotional learning strategies with adult learners.
Working Conditions and Travel
- Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

- Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to use hearing and speech to make presentations to groups and carry on conversations over the phone and in-person. Requires speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in one-on-one and small group settings, on the phone, and to distinguish sound prompts from various types of equipment. Requires near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens. Requires sufficient hand/arm/finger dexterity to retrieve work materials, operate a personal computer keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
