Responsibilities

Florida State University’s School of Theatre invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2025. Candidates will teach BA and BFA students as well as graduate students within the recently revised Theatre & Performance Research MA and PhD programs (https://theatre.fsu.edu/graduate/). Responsibilities include teaching two courses each semester, maintaining a record of research and publication at the national level, serving on graduate committees, and participating in departmental service. In addition to Introduction to Theatre, candidates may teach Performance Theory, Performance as Research, and their specialization. We are particularly interested in research in these areas: Indigenous Performance, Performance in and from the Global South, Technology and Performance, or Disability and Performance. Qualifications

PhD by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of successful university teaching experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to mentoring student projects.

The School of Theatre is nationally ranked and has over 350 students in the BFA and BA programs, in addition to over 80 graduate students in the MFA, MA, and PhD programs. The school maintains a global presence with FSU study abroad programs, with a particular investment in the FSU London Theatre Academy in the UK.
