The Ohio State University College of Dentistry has a unique opportunity and seeks a Dental Assistant with a passion for community outreach to treat patients on the mobile dental clinic (Dental H.O.M.E. Coach) for The Ohio State University College of Dentistry's Office of Community Education in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health. This position is also responsible for driving the Dental H.O.M.E. Coach; the college will cover the costs of obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for direct chair-side dental assisting for all faculty, residents and students in the Dental H.O.M.E. Coach for the College of Dentistry, including assisting with children and special needs patients; dispenses, receives, and processes instruments, equipment and supplies used in the delivery of treatment; stocks clinic supplies for the clinical area; rotates stock, maintains supply inventory, which includes moving materials, pushing and pulling carts, lifting small equipment, stooping, climbing up and down vehicle stairs. The successful candidate also provides oral hygiene instructions, ensures efficient coach operation during clinical sessions; organizes records system; offers a systematic and streamline approach to the delivery of care to patients at various locations, and takes radiographs on young and adult patients.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., plus some weekend/evening hours for special community events.
Pay Range: The targeted hiring pay is between $17.30 - $22.75 per hour, based on level of education and experience. An additional 10% supplemental pay will be added after obtaining a CDL license.
Required Screenings: This position requires successful completion of background check(s) and drug & alcohol screening, and the individual is subject to random drug screening per CDL
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Required: High School diploma or GED, plus 1 year of chairside experience as a dental assistant; a valid CDL driver's license, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required within 6 months from hire.
Desired: 2-4 years' experience as a dental assistant and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments and procedures, especially those involving pediatric dentistry procedures; experience in an educational and/or hospital setting, experience with electronic health record is desired. Basic computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet/email is required to perform clerical responsibilities.

The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
