The Office of Career Development and Public Service at Boston University School of Law seeks an Assistant Director for In-House Corporate Counsel, Compliance and the Private Sector to join our team of talented career advisors. This position presents a rewarding opportunity to help law students begin their legal career.
The Assistant Director for In-House Corporate Counsel, Compliance and the Private Sector will:
- Counsel students on all aspects of JD advantage and private sector careers, including all aspects of the non-traditional job search, via group presentations/programs, individual meetings, and specifically developed materials.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local, national, and international employers to provide opportunities for both permanent and summer/externship placements for JD students.
- Maintain and expand employer relationships for In House Counsel Fellowship placements; ensure appropriate student/alumni placements and create programming for Fellows to assist in their professional development.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging employment areas of legal employment.
- Participate in general career development office advising and administrative responsibilities, including walk-in advising, student programming, assisting with on and off-campus recruiting programs, staff meetings, and staff projects.
- Participate in all aspects of career development office outreach, including outreach to students, faculty, local and national professional groups, and employers.
Required Skills
- JD degree required.
- Prior work experience as a practicing lawyer and/or experience in law student career advising and/or hiring of new lawyers preferred.
- Knowledge or experience with in-house legal and/or non-traditional legal careers preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
