Description:

The HLD Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Quantum Research and Technology at the University of Oklahoma is seeking a postdoctoral associate to perform research on ultracold atoms in the group of Dr. Emine Altuntas.

The successful candidate will conduct experimental research in the field of atomic molecular optics and quantum simulations with Bose-Einstein condensates in Dr. Altuntas’ group. Topics of research include but are not limited to, open quantum system engineering, interactive quantum matter and quantum sensing. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and well-resourced AMO laboratories, and an outstanding academic environment that includes a large team of experts in AMO physics and quantum science.


Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field is required. The initial appointment will be one year, and is renewable for another one or two years, with satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The start date of the appointment is flexible and can be as early as January 13, 2025. Compensation for the position is competitive and travel support is available.

Strong background in ultracold atom experiments, precision measurements with atomic and molecular systems, quantum many-body experiments. Experience with lasers, ultra-high vacuum systems, optics, programming skills in Python are highly preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and excellent problem-solving skills. A proven track record of research excellence and publications in academic journals.
