Job Description Summary
The Nuclear Technologist position involves a variety of responsibilities focused on the safe and effective use of radioactive materials. The purpose of this position is to lead the Nuclear Medicine Department in completing all aspects of Scintigraphy and Positron Emission Tomography scans on equine patients.
Penn Vet's New Bolton Center provides an internationally renowned standard of care. Located on 700 acres in rural Chester County Pennsylvania. It has the largest case load of any academic hospital in the nation. This position is in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
Job Description
The Nuclear Technologist position involves a variety of responsibilities focused on the safe and effective use of radioactive materials. The purpose of this position is to lead the Nuclear Medicine Department in completing all aspects of Scintigraphy and Positron Emission Tomography scans on equine patients. Under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Sports Medicine and Imaging Technicians, the Nuclear Technologist is responsible for radiation monitoring, safety, and compliance. They will operate and maintain the gamma camera and PET scanner ensuring diagnostic image acquisition, reconstruction, and storage in the PACS server. They will conduct daily quality assurance testing and maintain accurate records for inspections and audits. They will assist with the development of research projects involving nuclear medicine and train new technical staff and students. This is a 40-hour per week position Monday- Friday with occasional overtime.
