The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) seeks an experienced and effective leader to join our team as Assistant Vice President for Civic and Global Engagement. About the Division
The Division of Academic Innovation and Transformation (AIT) provides programming, services, and expertise to assist members in their academic missions. Through grant-funded scaling initiatives, leadership development programs, and large and small convenings, the Division supports institutional transformation in the areas of civic and global engagement, student success, teacher education and other career preparation for workforce development.
Through innovative programming and strategic partnerships, the Division is dedicated to preparing students who are responsible and engaged global citizens.
Summary of Position Requirements:
We are seeking an outstanding leader and team player with:
- Doctorate: Candidates must hold a doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., international studies, political science).
- Global and Civic Engagement Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience in global and civic engagement initiatives on a campus is essential.
- Management Experience: Experience leading and motivating highly knowledgeable teams.
- University Campus Experience: At least seven years in higher education leadership roles.
- Leading Campuswide Initiatives: Experience developing and implementing major Global and Civic Engagement projects and initiatives on a campus.
- Budget Management: A track record in managing budgets, teams, and successful initiatives.
- Fundraising: Ability to raise funds from external partners to support civic and global engagement projects and initiatives.
Some Key Responsibilities (expanded list is on our website)
- Lead and design global and civic engagement initiatives within public higher education.
- Develop strategic plans for the integration of global and civic programs.
- Manage the Civic and Global Engagement team and budget.
- Oversee research, assessment, and convenings related to global engagement.
- Build partnerships with nonprofits, think tanks, embassies, and other stakeholders.
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000.

Work Environment: Hybrid schedule—at least 2 days in-office at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, three days remote. Candidates must be within commuting distance of our headquarters; no relocation assistance is provided.
