Description

Position Overview:

Temporary Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental responsibilities expected. This is a one-semester position for Spring 2025.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 128 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments and the School of Engineering. The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include teaching day/evening/weekend classes in Clinical, Laboratory, Simulation, and/or Classroom areas. The candidate must be willing to teach courses in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online) as needed. Occasional participation in department meetings, committees and projects may be required.

Experience/Education Required:

An earned Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Current Oklahoma RN License, CPR certification, current vaccination status and tuberculosis testing required. Drug screen will be required before starting clinical duties. At least two years of clinical nursing experience is required. Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experience/Education Preferred:

Previous experience in teaching and evaluating students in the Clinical, Laboratory, Simulation areas is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Supervising students in Clinical, Laboratory, Simulation, and/or Classroom areas. Instructors will be expected to evaluate students as well as direct and coach them in the care of clients and the development of nursing skills. Presentation of didactic material in a classroom setting independently or as a member of a team may also be required. Desire to work with traditional and fast-track students is essential.
