Home to 53,235 students, more than 11,000 faculty and staff and 350,000+ living alumni, UC combines a Top 35 public research university with a physical setting The New York Times calls “the most ambitious campus design program in the country.”
With the launch of Next Lives Here, the Cincinnati Innovation District, a $100 million JobsOhio investment, three straight years of record enrollment, worldwide leadership in cooperative education, a dynamic academic health center and entry into the Big 12 Conference, UC’s momentum has never been stronger. UC’s annual budget stands at $1.85 billion, and its endowment totals nearly $1.8 billion.
Job OverviewA full-time Post Doc Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Jun-Lin Guan, PhD in the Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Research in Dr. Guan’s laboratory aims to understand the fundamental principles of cell signaling in the regulation of basic cellular functions in normal cell and developmental processes and to determine how the disruption of normal signaling pathways lead to diseases such as cancer. Current studies include the analysis of autophagy and non-canonical functions of multiple autophagy genes in breast cancer and neural stem cells, and mTORC1 signaling in vascular and other tumors and its cross-talk with autophagy. We use a variety of genetically engineered mouse models combined with molecular, cellular and functional genomic approaches as well as CRISPR-based genetic screen, single cell transcriptomics, PROTACs, organoids and optogenetics to gain mechanistic insights of complex signaling networks in vivo.
Candidates with a strong background in cell and molecular biology, cancer research, neuroscience, vascular biology and/or immunology are encouraged to apply. Experience in autophagy, cell signaling, vesicle trafficking, single-cell transcriptional and genomic analysis, stem cells, and mouse models of cancer, neurodegenerative or other diseases are ideal.
