Job Details
An adjunct in physical diagnosis is responsible to teach in the lecture and/or laboratory setting. Adjuncts are assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which they have suitable training and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
- Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods as assigned
- Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students' needs
- Serve on TouroCOM committees as assigned.
- Provide reports, budgetary information, and other documents as requested by department chairs, directors, and deans
- Advise and mentor students
- Participate in medical student admission interviews
Qualifications
Education, Preparation, and Training
- Graduate level degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in any of the topics mentioned in the job responsibilities section.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management.
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically and experience with Learning Management Systems.
