Position Summary:Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Electronics Engineer and Lab Manager - Dania Beach, FL.
The Electronics Engineer and Lab Manager will oversee and manage the operations of the OME Electronics Laboratory. This role includes supervising the design, construction, testing, and documentation of electronic systems and components for college research projects. The supervisor will ensure that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively, managing work schedules, cost analysis, specification writing, and design review meetings. This position also involves providing technical support to students and faculty, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring the lab meets the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Oversee project management activities for the OME Electronics Laboratory, including the development of project timelines, resource allocation, and cost analysis. Conduct design review meetings and ensure projects adhere to specifications and deadlines.
Provide electronics technical support to researchers by assisting in the design, fabrication, debugging, and testing of prototype electronic systems and components. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including schematics, drawings, BOMs, and user manuals.
Offer feedback and recommendations for student design projects. Provide instruction on the use and operation of electronic test equipment, soldering, wiring techniques, and documentation practices. Assist faculty with student laboratory courses and maintain a hands-on role in the lab’s day-to-day activities.
Maintain lab equipment, fixtures, and supplies. Ensure that the laboratory is well-organized and equipped with the necessary tools and components. Manage sponsored research-funded components and systems.
Assist in developing research proposals by creating labor and materials estimates and conducting technical research to provide equipment and component recommendations that meet project requirements.
Oversee and mentor Engineering Technicians/Designers, ensuring that all team members are properly trained and that projects are completed to the highest standards.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with at least 1-2 years of appropriate experience.
Relevant experience in project management within an electronics laboratory or similar environment.
Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and fabrication drawings.
Advanced troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex electronic circuits and systems.
Expertise in soldering (both through-hole and surface mount components) and wiring.
Proficient with electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
Experience in printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout using CAD tools.
