Job Details
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive shuttle bus between Colby College and Downtown Waterville on a strict schedule
- Respond to fire and security alarms at the off-campus residence hall
- Provide lockout services for the off-campus residence hall
- Enforce College policies and complete necessary reports and paperwork
- Maintain an alertness for suspicious activities during shift
- Deal with incidents as necessary at the off-campus residence hall
- Provide informational assistance and promote good public relations
- Complete necessary reports and paperwork
- Provide informational sessions to the College community as necessary
- Participate in on-the-job training
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions
- Display exemplary customer service skills and ensure positive interactions with the community
- Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education a plus
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P (Passenger Bus Vehicle) endorsement required and must meet Colby’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements
- Must present a neat, clean, and professional image
- Ability to be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligations
- Additional training and certifications in First Aid and CPR and First Responder Training preferred
- Must meet CDL federal requirements, including random alcohol and drug testing
- Well-developed public relations skills; able to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment; work with members of a diverse community; and utilize diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situations
- Ability to work independently and sit and drive for long periods of time
- Effectively operate a variety of equipment including portable/mobile radios and computers
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to complete clear, concise, and accurate logs, reports, and other documentation
- Ability to make an impact through work as a member of a team and diverse community
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the assistant director of security, this position has significant interactions with students, faculty, staff, and other outside constituencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General campus environment. Position involves frequent movement. Employee must be able to sit and drive for long periods of time. Some lifting and computer use possible. The shuttle operates Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful and satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) and a pre-employment health screening.
