Job Details
The core purpose of Interior Architecture faculty is to prepare future interior design professionals through the B.S. in Interior Architecture degree. Through career-focused instruction in a collaborative studio environment, students learn to create innovative, equitable, and meaningful interior environments that support the human condition and improve the ecological health of the planet. Research-driven, evidence-based, and human-centered design processes are reinforced by learning experiences that reflect the present and future practice.
In its 7th academic year, the IA Program received the CIDA accreditation candidacy in 2022 and is currently preparing for its first full accreditation in 2025-26. Students who graduate with the B.S. in Interior Architecture have the opportunity to enroll in the NAAB-accredited, M.Arch degree program within the Architecture Department and complete it in 2 years. In addition to the IA and M. Arch degrees, the Architecture Department also offers an MA in Architecture, a PhD, and multiple certificate programs. It has summer, semester, and year-long study abroad programs around the globe.
The School of Architecture and Design is dedicated to providing safe, respectful, supportive, and welcoming teaching, learning, and working environments for its community of students, staff, and faculty. We believe that the design process is elevated when differences are respected, ideas are shared, and people are connected. We recognize that all people should have a say in the creation of their own environment. We aspire to advance a culture of excellence and representation at the School of Architecture and Design. This task demands a collaborative approach and one that integrates culturally competent protocols and policies in our everyday ideas, thinking, and practices.
KU's excellence is a result of the rich tapestry of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds of our faculty, staff, students, and colleagues from across our nation and the globe. At KU, we invest in continuous learning and growth by creating a climate where people engage in respectful dialogue and debate and support each other's success. We foster a culture of care where each person is seen, heard and valued. When people feel a true sense of belonging, we believe they are better able to reach their full potential and achieve remarkable things.
