Coastal Carolina University, a dynamic public institution located in Conway, South Carolina, just minutes from Myrtle Beach, is seeking applications to join the team in the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Services (OSPRS) as Senior Pre-Award Research Administrator.

Grants Coordinator II (BE20/61122411/PCLS202400220), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $38,985.00 (minimum) - $72,134.00 (maximum). Hiring range for this position is $50,000.00 - $60,000.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm, with flexible scheduling offered. The position may potentially be structured as hybrid or fully remote. Special note for any applicant who resides outside of South Carolina: If you are selected for a role at Coastal Carolina University and do not move to South Carolina, your employment may be through Kelly Services. Must be flexible to meet occasional special scheduling needs of the University and available for limited daily or overnight travel.Duties

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Reviewing, coordinating and managing the submission of compliant funding proposals to include management of all supporting documentation from PIs and external collaborators, completing the entry of data elements and attachment uploads in sponsor electronic systems or other submission mediums.
  2. Initiating, tracking and ensuring required internal approvals for all funding proposals are obtained, the university’s electronic grants management system and network drive contain complete records, and coordinating submissions with the university's Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).
  3. Assisting and performing funding searches in response to requests from faculty, staff or university administration.
  4. Maintaining knowledge of new or changed rules, regulations, guidelines, requirements or procedures at the university, state or federal levels and updating all university resources (website, forms, templates, etc.) for administration, faculty, staff and students to ensure proposal compliance.
  5. Developing and providing training, workshops and resource materials to be delivered online and in-person in areas related (but not limited) to:
    1. Searching for funding opportunities
    2. Creating grant proposal elements, such as abstracts and project narratives
    3. Developing budgets and justifications
    4. Navigating university and sponsor grants management systems
    5. Research compliance
Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience; two (2) years of experience preparing external funding proposals in a higher education setting. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of pre-award functions typical of a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI). Experience with state, federal and foundation electronic grant application systems. Applied knowledge of federal grant and agreement regulations. Working knowledge of SPIN funding database. Proficiency with MS Office Suite software, to include Word and Excel as well as with Adobe Acrobat Pro. Some background creating materials and delivering training to adult learners.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Outstanding organizational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated success in preparing and delivering training or workshops. Ability to establish effective working relationships with University offices, federal, state and local agencies. Ability to work effectively and efficiently when faced with shifting deadlines and priorities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
