Brown University’s Office of University Communications (OUC) Video Producer is a strong visual storyteller who manages and directs production and execution of video content created for on-campus partners and OUC. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Digital Content Strategy, the Video Producer collaborates within an integrated team of more than 40 marketing and communications professionals to deliver cohesive marketing strategies and high-quality deliverables that integrate content strategy and editorial development, visual identity and multiplatform visual design, multimedia, digital and social media advertising, web and digital communications strategy and front-end development. The Video Producer routinely brainstorms video concepts and oversees the creation of high-quality, multi-channel video content in collaboration with the OUC team and campus partners.
The Video Producer works collaboratively and strategically to create high-quality, visually compelling content to build awareness, grow audiences and drive engagement. The Video Producer works on all aspects of video production, from concept to completion, including storyboarding, scripting, directing, interviewing, videography and post-production. Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use protocols for video resources are essential elements of the Video Producer role.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in video production, filmmaking, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Three to five years of experience in a related field (i.e. film, interactive media, video journalism, digital communications, multimedia communications).
Job Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in conceiving and producing strong visual stories through video and optimizing formats across platforms.
- Ability to produce and edit video to clearly and concisely convey messages that align with client needs.
- Extensive experience with video equipment and tools supporting video production, including cameras, lighting kits, and lavalier and shotgun microphones.
- Demonstrated creative eye for innovative composition and design of videos.
- Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite’s Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Apple’s Final Cut Pro and other A/V editing software.
- Ability to organize and keep track of large amounts of media.
- Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use protocols for music and video resources supporting production.
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
Additional Information
This position is classified as hybrid-eligible. It may require occasional nights and weekends for digital storytelling of special events and programs.
