Job SummaryThe Dean is responsible for teaching classes as well as performing all duties associated with the leadership and supervision of personnel and operational management of the division. This position is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of excellence and quality in the division's academic programs and services. Additionally, the Dean interfaces with the student body, faculty, staff, administrators, and colleagues at system and non-system institutions, and other educational, public, and community forums.
The Dean is entrusted with the comprehensive leadership, administration, and supervision of personnel and operations within the division. This role encompasses ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence and operational quality. The Dean will actively engage with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external educational entities to foster a vibrant and dynamic learning environment.
ResponsibilitiesManages and supervises school faculty, staff, programs, and events:
- Implements college policies, procedures, and best management practices.
- Recruits, supervises, and oversees the evaluation of school faculty; makes recommendations on matters related to hiring, promotion, tenure, and terms of employment.
- Promotes faculty scholarship, professional development, and institutional and community service; supervises, promotes, and evaluates professional development for school staff.
- Resolves problems with students, faculty, and or staff.
Collaborates with internal and external partners related to the School¿s programming and academic portfolio:
- Develops partnerships with external agencies and organizations in support of business and technology as well as the academic affairs mission and goals.
- Collaborates with other college administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Participates in student recruitment events.
- Serves on a variety of college and community committees.
Oversees curriculum development, and accreditation processes:
- Oversees curriculum and program development, delivery of instruction, and assessment and evaluation of programs.
- Creates and maintains the course schedules.
- Teach at least one course each semester
- Oversees accreditation reports.
- Plans and prepares the scheduling of classes in collaboration with other deans, chairs, faculty, and others.
- Manages accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
- Manages program reviews, including student outcomes and continuous improvement.
Directs development and budget management efforts:
- Develops, manages, and administers the school¿s budget.
- Coordinates with the college¿s Advancement staff to acquire external support for school operations, including grant funds.
- Leads and participates in resource planning.
- Manages expenditures.
Engages in research and scholarly activities:
- Creates processes and protocols for faculty to engage in creative academic and scholarly activities.
- Fosters a culture of academic professionalism.
- Engages faculty in scholarly works.
- Develops and enforces student success strategies and goals.
Student Success Activities:
- Develops activities that promote students¿ academic, social, and civic growth and development.
- Develops a framework for student success initiatives.
- Implements and reviews divisional goals regularly.
- Provides professional growth and development activities to help faculty acquire new or enhance existing skills and knowledge to better serve the institution, community, and profession.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsEducation:
- Doctoral degree in a specified subject area within the academic school, Business and Technology
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in related field
- Management experience
- Teaching experience

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
- Requires the ability to prepare and/or process purchase orders.
- Requires the ability to be accountable for inventory/property management.
- Requires the ability to make recommendations that impact the budget.
- Requires the ability to manage the budget within an assigned unit/division.
- Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines and multi-line phones.
- Requires the ability to use computers for data entry.
- Requires the ability to use computers for word processing and/or accounting purposes.
- Requires the ability to think critically and respond quickly.
- Requires the ability to be creative, and innovative and utilize initiative.
