Job Summary

This full-time position, funded through generated revenue from programs created within the department, is needed to support the demand for non-credit and for-credit micro-credential programming that is being offered in the department of Continuing and Professional Education. Continuing and Professional Education has supported the university and the community through successful programs such as Kid's University, Road Scholar, a variety of summer and academic camps, conferences, and personal enrichment. The program coordinator is necessary to continue providing a progressive schedule of non-credit and for-credit programs for the general public and to support training and professional development for local and regional businesses, government organizations, non-profits, professional, and sought out communities.

Responsibilities

Coordinating - 50
Coordinates, programs, markets, and provides a progressive schedule of non-credit and for-credit programs for the general public and to support training and professional development for local and regional business, government organizations, non-profits, professional, and specific communities. Programs will focus on non-credit or for-credit certificate and short form education programs; online, on-campus and site-based certificates and micro-credentials, and professional development courses. Programs may also include, but are not limited to, personal enrichment courses; and/or performances; performing and visual arts courses; health, fitness and recreation courses; summer camps (residential and commuter); after-school programs, children's programs; senior programs; conferences; and concerts.

Data and File Management - 20
Assists in the preparation of all reports, course folders, contracts, and agreements relevant to area of responsibility. Completes, or supervises the completion of all paperwork for each course or program including consultant agreements, budgets, facility requests, A/V requests, purchasing card summaries, etc. Maintains master program files on all non-credit and for-credit programs coordinated. Ensures that all non-credit educational programs and students are properly reported to the Board of Regents through the appropriate CEU reports. Assists with reporting other Continuing and Professional Education programs offered in other schools, colleges, or units on the GC campus.

Financial Management - 15
Provides recommended budget plans (both short-term and long-term) for all CPE programs serving area of responsibility. Determines supply needs and maintains fiscal accountability for daily revenues. Generates, through assigned programs, sufficient revenue to pay all direct expenses of the programs and to cover a portion of the general departmental overhead. Recommends approval and/or cancellation of workshops, and continuing and professional education programs based on generated revenues, enrollment, or other circumstances.

Supervision - 10
Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates program staff, instructors, student workers, and facilitators.

Marketing - 5
Develops a marketing strategy and implementation plan to include social media, catalog, and email distribution, to market the progressive schedule of non-credit and for-credit programs promoting training and professional development for local and regional businesses, government, non-profits, and targeted communities. Works to bring about campus wide, local, regional and state awareness of Continuing and Professional Education opportunities through website, social media, brochures, mailings, ads, speeches within the community, visits to businesses and industries, talks to student groups, and personal contacts. Works closely with community organizations, other departments on campus, and GC faculty and staff to identify and develop appropriate CE programs.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Public Administration, Marketing, Communication, or related field, plus a minimum of one year experience in teaching, working in adult education, or curriculum development/program coordination, corporate training, event coordination, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
1-3 years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to conceive, develop, implement and supervise innovative programs. Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, administrators, and community members (orally, written, and through presentations). Ability to select and hire appropriate instructors and serve as a leader to them. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general understanding of PC operations.

Demonstrate commitment to inclusiveness by working well with various populations.

Must have strong customer service skills, willingness to work collaboratively in a changing environment, and be result-oriented.

Ability to adhere to university policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals.

KNOWLEDGE
Event planning knowledge.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general understanding of PC operations.

SKILLS
Experience managing a variety of training and continuing education tasks for a portfolio of continuing education programs (e.g., conducting online research, coordinating registration, program planning).

Strong organizational, effective written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
