The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Oklahoma strives to enhance students' academic success by developing student skills, cultivating diverse campus life experiences, and enriching the university community through programs and services. 

The Division of Student Affairs recognizes that great data creates informed decisions. Compiling division-wide Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) Standards and the College Student Education International (ACPA) Curricular Approach data, the Director of Planning and Assessment will help shape the future of the Division as well as programs and services offered to students.

The Director is responsible for leading and supporting large- and small-scale assessment projects.  This position constructs and administers surveys and assessment instruments and assists with designing and completing assessment plans and reports.  This position conducts workshops and other trainings for staff on assessment best practices and use of assessment technology.  The position prepares real-world data sets for analysis and develops research reports. 

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for strategic program development, implementation and administration.
  • Monitor projects, program evaluation, and development of long-range plans.
  • Serve on various committees and represents the unit to public and client groups.
  • Ensure the evaluation of programs and instruction.
  • Direct and plans for needs assessment of client groups.
  • Develop unit/divisional goals and objectives.
  • Oversee project management. 
  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Data Analyst

  • Obtain and clean data from various sources; reorganizing the data into usable formats in order to perform analysis   
  • Use data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
  • Analyze data to provide leadership information, trends, and inferences
  • Perform audits on data sets in order to maintain accurate data

Power BI / Data Analytic Tools / Software & Career Tools

  • Develop subject matter expertise in PowerBi
  • Frequently update, maintain, and disseminate current and new reports on a regular schedule to internal and external stakeholders  
  • Design, develop and maintain business intelligence reports in Power BI
  • Create a dynamic and user-friendly dashboard available to all stakeholders

Technology & Support

  • Technologically assist departmental staff in various ways
  • Update staff on any new assessment technologies available and / or any technology and software changes
  • Provide assistance and training as needed for new staff / current staff in regard to technology, reporting, and dashboard support


Job Location

Required Education: Master's degree, AND: 

  • 36 months of program administration or related experience.

Equivalency Substitution:  will accept 72 months of related experience in lieu of the Master's degree for a total of 108 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Excel, Office 365 Suite, SQL, Python, Data Visualization
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and creating compelling data visualization
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff.  Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Able to effectively evaluate projects, programs and produce comprehensive report
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
