The Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as a vital link between Student Affairs and various stakeholders, focusing on internal communications review and development, sponsored content management, and collaboration with the Marketing and Communications department. This position supports the Director of Strategic Initiatives and plays a key role in promoting departmental initiatives, organizing events, and facilitating internal and external relationships and efforts.

This position duties: 

  • Develops promotional materials and marketing strategies.
  • Researches, collects, and analyzes data or information and prepares reports or responses to inquiries.
  • Serves as liaison with offices on and off campus.
  • Attends events or meetings and serves on committees.
  • May assist in the management of day-to-day operations or supervise program staff.
  • Plans and coordinates activities, events, or special projects.
  • Designs, implements, and manages designated programs and services.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
  • Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications Review and Development: Review and develop internal communications materials, including newsletters, memos, and announcements, to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Collaborate with departmental leaders to disseminate essential information to staff and stakeholders.
  • Sponsored Content Development and Review: Manage the development and review process for sponsored content, including articles, advertisements, and promotional materials. Coordinate with sponsors, vendors, and internal and external teams to ensure content aligns with departmental objectives and brand guidelines.
  • Sponsorship and Fundraising Coordination and Engagement: Facilitate sponsorship and fundraising opportunities by coordinating with potential sponsors and donors while ensuring alignment with departmental objectives. Collaborate with departments, programs, and services in developing promotional strategies that maximize sponsor visibility and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Support for Director of Strategic Initiatives: Assist the Director of Strategic Initiatives in organizing and promoting departmental initiatives, including Giving Day events, fundraising campaigns, and special projects. Help coordinate logistics, manage communication channels, and engage with stakeholders to maximize participation and impact.
  • Liaison with Marketing and Communications: Serve as a liaison between Student Affairs and the Marketing and Communications department, facilitating communication and collaboration on promotional campaigns, branding initiatives, and strategic messaging.


  • Job Location

    Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND: 

    • 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.

    Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months experience.

    Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong initiative to solve problems. 
    • Ability to review and edit written materials for clarity, consistency, and accuracy. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
    • Experience with project management and event coordination.
    • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Able to interact with the public in a confident and friendly manner.
    • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Highly organized and able to oversee multiple projects and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in managing the gathering and distribution of digital, photo, and video assets to both internal and external outlets. 
    • Skills in video production, photography, and graphic design for use in promotional materials. 
    • Perform all tasks with sensitivity, confidentiality, and professionalism. 
    • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
    • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

    Certifications:

    • Valid Driver License required for occasional work-related assignments.

    • Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry.
    • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
    • Standard office environment.
    • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

    Departmental Preferences:

  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related role is preferred
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
