This position maintains the University’s building systems, equipment, and structures. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building interior finishes, building envelope systems, furniture, fixtures and equipment. Projects range in scope and complexity from simple furniture repairs to completing entire interior renovations.  This is a full time, on-campus position.  Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and access to multiple tuition scholarship programs for employees and dependents.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of:

     

  • Building interior finishes; wall and ceiling systems; locks and door systems; and all flooring types.

     

    Building envelope systems; roof, drains and gutter systems, masonry, metal, wood, and plastic exterior as well as hard and soft joint systems; exterior concrete and railing systems; building penetrations including exterior window/door systems and locks.

     

    Building furniture systems and moveable equipment; furniture, fixtures and equipment in residence halls, academic, administrative and athletic buildings.

     

  • Assist plumbers, electricians, and HVAC staff on minor installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.

     

    Provide technical expertise as it relates to carpentry.

     

    Work with the Supervisor of Building Trades in researching parts, projects, inventory and equipment. 

     

 

Requirements:

 

  • Carpentry/masonry apprenticeship required

     

    Minimum of 8 years experience in building interior, building envelope, furniture, fixtures and equipment construction preferred

     

    Participate in 24/7 on-call roster for service to faculty, staff, and students

     

    Participate in the snow removal on-call roster

     

    Participate in department safety training

     

    Valid driver’s license

     

    Physical demands: Occasionally requires ability to lift up to 100 lbs.; Frequently requires twisting, turning, repetitive hand/wrist motion and forearm rotation, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, balancing and reaching above shoulder and down to floor and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.; Constantly requires standing, walking, traveling from building to building multiple times a day and lifting/carrying up to 25lbs.
