This is a part-time, hourly, non-benefits eligible position working 19 hours or less per week.

Educational and Experience Requirement:High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. College or continued education courses in management, public safety, or communications desirable. Experience in a related field preferred.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Ensures safe and orderly transportation of students and staff on assigned routes.
Primary Responsibilities:Operates the Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Kat Tracks shuttle bus to transport students/staff/faculty and special guests around the SHSU campus. Follows assigned route and adheres to established schedules. Checks bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notifies supervisor of needed repairs. Reports all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Completes required reports. Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled. Inspects bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving. Ensures proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector. Attends and completes required training program to maintain safety certification. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Requires the use of standard equipment common to most offices including computers. Must be accurate in business mathematics, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Must communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Maintains all required certifications and attend on-going training. Must be able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
