ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Servers, Virtualization & Storage
- Performs specialized duties involved in the planning, installation, configuration, operation, development, modification, maintenance, and repair of virtualized systems, software, and applications.
- Installs and configures physical servers, including operating systems, software applications, and tools.
- Designs, builds, operates, and maintains virtualization infrastructure in accordance with the College’s needs and recommended best practices.
Security, Compliance & Documentation
- Documents solutions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner for assigned and related areas of responsibility.
- Ensures policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are being met and followed according to College practices.
Management, Monitoring, Troubleshooting
- Assures minimum service interruptions by analyzing performance, scalability and availability of resources.
- Develops strategies for, and completes performance tuning of, College mission-critical virtualization systems.
- Analyzes, tests, and troubleshoots assigned systems. Performs Tier 3 troubleshooting and serves as an escalation point for any issues Tier 1&2 support are unable to resolve.
- Schedules system downtime with end users and technical staff members to facilitate hardware and software changes following CSCC change management procedures.
Architecture, Design & Project Management
- Understands and documents the technical requirements for new services or service enhancements.
- Advises on technological decisions & provides service implementation estimates.
- Supports the overall operations of assigned environments, ensuring they meet requirements & performance goals.
- Identifies reusable/preconfigured service components or standard products from the market to leverage & assemble the service/solution.
- Works closely with appropriate stakeholders to ensure implementation meets design requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge Of: server and desktop virtualization using VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft Hyper-V; enterprise SAN systems; networking as it relates to virtualization; server hardware monitoring and troubleshooting; Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery; server and desktop operating systems and management; system monitoring and logging.
Skill In: verbal and written communication; operating job equipment; planning, scheduling and organizing work; general typing; application of job software programs; application of technical skills in area of specialization
Ability To: think creatively and exploit opportunities; simplify and synthesize complex situations with consideration to all elements; work independently demonstrating initiative; develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the College; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; analyze technical problems, troubleshoot and draw appropriate conclusions; perform light manual labor for extended periods of time; maintain confidential and sensitive information; maintain accurate and complete work records; coordinate multiple activities and tasks; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; apply technical and analytical applications
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attends all required department meetings and training.
- Required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hours support, 24/7 availability.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsible technical experience managing virtualization infrastructure. *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate*

- *Hybrid opportunity in Columbus, OH
- Required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty & On-Site if required.
