FCC is distinguished by its quality and affordability, making it attainable and valuable for local students. Accredited programs, comprehensive instruction, and affordable costs of attendance have made FCC the learning destination for nearly 30,000 graduates since 1957.In traditional and alternative learning environments, we anticipate and respond to the needs of our local, regional, and global communities. FCC recognizes the different learning needs and preferences of students and offers instruction in flexible learning formats that include day, evening, weekend, online, and hybrid options. In addition, FCC offers current high school students access to college courses through its Open Campus and High School-Based Dual Enrollment programs.FCC offers 55 associate degree programs and areas of concentration, 39 certificates, and 51 subject areas in continuing education through credit and Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD).

The Institutional Advancement is responsible for securing private funding from individuals, businesses, foundations, organizations, etc. to support the priorities of the College. The Frederick Community College Foundation, Inc. is a philanthropic network of advocates enriching the vitality and quality of life in our community by promoting access to higher education. In partnership with individuals, organizations, and businesses, the mission of the Frederick Community College Foundation is to remove barriers to a community college education and provide financial support so all students can succeed and positively contribute to our community.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director for Development and FCC Foundation at Frederick Community College (FCC) serves as the Director of College advancement efforts to engage and secure private funds and as the Executive Director of the FCC Foundation.
As the Executive Director for Development and FCC Foundation, the position serves a critical role in advancing the FCC mission, vision, and strategic goals through securing local, state and federal private grants, and through effective fundraising and alumni engagement.The position reports to the President of Frederick Community College and serves on the President’s Executive Team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Fundraising Strategy - Develop and execute a comprehensive private fundraising and private grant funding strategy aligned with the College’s Strategic plan and key priorities. This includes securing funding from local, state and national sources, annual giving (both internal and external donors), major gifts, planned giving and comprehensive & capital campaigns.2. Serve as Executive Director of the FCC Foundation. Responsible for the management of the 501c3 FCC Foundation including, but not limited to working closely with the Foundation Board of Directors engaging them in their personal giving, donor cultivation, donor stewardship, activating their personal network and providing fiduciary oversight. Responsible for implementing fundraising throughout the year that supports the priorities of the College and builds ongoing donor relations with College faculty and staff, alumni, individuals, corporations, foundations and key community constituents.3. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship - Cultivate and steward relationships with donors and prospects including College faculty and staff, alumni, individuals, corporations, foundation and key community constituents.4. Develop and maintain active engagement with private grant funding sources.5. Prospect Research and Identification - Lead efforts to identify, qualify and secure funding sources including individuals, associations, organizations, corporations and foundations.6. Collaboration and Coordination - Collaborate with senior leadership, Foundation Board of Directors, and community leaders to develop fundraising initiatives.7. Compliance and Reporting – Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements for private grants and giving to the Foundation.8. Leadership and Team Management - provide leadership, guidance, training, and support to the staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and accountability.9. Fiscal Management - Manage both the department and Foundation budgets effectively to comply with federal agency regulations and reporting and maximizing effectiveness of resources.10. Marketing, Communications and Community Relations - Collaborate with College marketing and communications to develop messaging and materials that effectively elevate the fundraising strategies in various donor communities.
1. Bachelor’s degree required. Advance degree preferred.2. Minimum of seven years of experience in fundraising, development, or related fields with a proven track record of success in securing gifts, partnerships and/or contracts beneficial to the institution.3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team of employees, colleagues and/or volunteers at all levels of experience and position.4. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and successfully implement innovative fundraising plans and adapt to changing circumstances.5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate the College’s mission and priorities that are compelling to donors and other target audiences.6. Knowledge of best practices in fundraising, ethical standards, and relevant regulations and practices.
Desired Qualifications:1. Master’s degree.2. Experience in higher education advancement and fundraising or similar non-profits.
