Position Summary:Under direction of the Manager of Facilities & Operations, performs skilled work in installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures; assists in performing other maintenance duties as assigned.
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:
Direct reporting relationship to the Manager, Facilities & Operations.
- Performs skilled plumbing work in the alteration, installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems to maintain plumbing lines in safe and sanitary working conditions, ensures compliance with building codes applicable to the plumbing trade. Correctly size pipe systems and drainage systems per code.
- Installs, maintains and repairs valves, pumps toilets, water heaters, pipes, faucets and various other fixtures, parts and equipment, rebuild and replace valves and faucets as needed; replaces leaking and defective parts in plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Installs, tests and maintains all types of plumbing equipment, including drains, water heaters, valves, regulators, water and gas lines, sewers, flush valves and fixtures.
- Conducts fire pump inspection, lubrication and maintenance.
- Cleans out drains and removes obstructions from water sewer systems, pumps, toilets, urinals and drinking fountains; inspects and repairs leaks and general system failures; repairs or replaces damaged pipe and tubing.
- Installs, tests and maintains backflow devices.
- Operates a variety of specialized equipment, including various hand and power tools.
- Inspects facilities and buildings for damage and maintenance needs, recommends repairs as necessary.
- Assist in snow removal and other emergency duties when necessary.
- Plan, organize and lay out assigned tasks; maintain simple records; make detailed parts requests.
- Ability and knowledge to correctly weld, solder, braze, also must know copper pipe codes.
- Assists in set-up for special events, moving of furniture, etc.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly in order to move objects.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED: Various types of plumbing tools and equipment including but not limited to hand tools, manual and powered rodding equipment, drills, threaders and tractors and trucks as needed.
- High school graduate with additional training in plumbing systems
- Three to five years of successful plumbing experience and current plumbing license.
- Ability to drive/operate tractors and trucks; possession of valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in all kinds of weather.
- Ability to work in cramped enclosures.
- Demonstrated ability to perform varied maintenance tasks with a minimum of supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Salary:MIN: $40,952 MID: $51,190 MAX: $61,427 PSC usually brings candidates in at the mid range
