Department Responsibilities
The Director of Instructional Design and Professional Education leads curriculum development and delivery for the College of Nursing, ensuring best practices and quality standards. Coordinates resources to support faculty with course maintenance, digital media integration, and technology use, collaborating closely with faculty to enhance instruction.
Works with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Assistant Deans for Undergraduate and Graduate programs to develop schedules for course developments, redevelopments, and other instructional design projects, while coordinating faculty training and development with the Associate Dean for Research.
Provides advanced-level consultations to faculty on instructional design and technology use for face-to-face and online courses, ensuring a customer-service approach and facilitating ongoing communication with faculty.
Designs and develops Executive Education course content, including professional certificate and micro-credentialing content, in conjunction with faculty and administrators.
Manages project scheduling and course developments based on program needs and faculty requests, leading instructional design department meetings and continuously reviewing and evaluating course materials for effectiveness.
Leverages innovative technologies, such as AI, ChatGPT, adaptive learning platforms, and virtual labs, to enhance educational experiences and supports teaching and learning.
Collaborates with the Office of Faculty Development and Advancement, the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, the College of Nursing Assistant Director of Technology Services, the Director of Assessment and Evaluation, and the Office of Distance Learning to achieve role-related tasks and responsibilities, while evaluating and recommending hardware and software needs.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and six years of experience in instructional design in higher education; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience as mentioned above. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Preferred Qualifications- Master's or doctoral degree in educational leadership, instructional design, instructional technologies, or other related fields preferred.
- Experience providing training and development to faculty.
- Experience working with AI technologies in instructional design and/or teaching, including ChatGPT and others.

Anticipated starting salary: Mid-$80,000’s, commensurate with experience.
