Description:
Position description:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the broadly defined area of biological chemistry and chemical biology.

Penn Chemistry is a collaborative and interactive department. Within the department, the traditional sub-fields of biochemistry, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry serve as a framework from which collaborative, inter-disciplinary experimental and theoretical research is launched. The Department of Chemistry is housed within the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS). Interdisciplinary research and collaboration are supported across the campus as chemistry faculty routinely collaborate with others in SAS as well in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) and the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), all part of our highly integrated campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Penn is home to the Center for Translational Chemical Biology, a home for collaboration between SAS, SEAS, and PSOM, and biomedically-oriented research benefits from support through NIH-funded centers as well as NIH training grants that provide fellowships to students working in areas such as structural biology, biophysics, or chemical biology. We promote and encourage curiosity, intellectual engagement, and discovery among all our students and faculty.

We seek candidates who share our strong commitment to research, teaching, and mentoring, and to a scholarly community shaped by values of inclusive excellence. The School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania is committed to cultivating and sustaining a community of students, scholars, researchers, and staff that reflects the diversity of our world. We nurture working and learning environments that are affirming, equitable, and inclusive. Please see our School’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives to learn more about our active priorities:https://www.sas.upenn.edu/office-diversity-equity-and-inclusion/news/2020-inclusion-and-anti-racism-initiatives .
