Position Title: Lecturer, Physician Assistant Studies 

Department: Physician Assistant Studies program

Reports to: Program Director

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Dominican University's College of Health Sciences is seeking a dedicated Lecturer for the Master of Medical Science (MMS) Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) program. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position. The role involves teaching and service responsibilities at both the department and college levels, as well as engagement with professional organizations and community service. The position includes one weekday allocated for clinical practice, to be determined in collaboration with the Program Director and/or BCHS Dean. As a principal faculty member, you will collaborate closely with the faculty, Program Director, and Medical Director to coordinate and deliver both the didactic and clinical curriculum, in alignment with ARC-PA standards.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as course director and instructor for PAS courses, following the BCHS/PAS faculty workload guidelines. This includes designing and implementing course content that aligns with the PAS curriculum's student learning outcomes, and participating in Return to Campus Days, simulation and skills activities, and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
  • Engage in Capstone advising and mentoring, as well as student remediation efforts.
  • Participate actively in student admissions activities.
  • Support ARC-PA accreditation processes and contribute to university-wide assessment initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse student and community populations, and contribute to fostering a culturally inclusive educational environment.
  • Participate in university governance, contribute to campus life, and engage in ongoing professional development.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited PA program with a Master’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Current Illinois PA licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Experience as a practicing PA for a minimum of 3 years
  • NCCPA certification

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience
  • Experience in the classroom or clinical teaching
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Highly motivated, team player with a strong work ethic, and possesses a high level of collaborative competencies
  • Provide evidence of inclusive pedagogy designed to reach a diverse student population.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times 

 

SALARY AND FLSA STATUS

FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
