Indiana Tech seeks to fill an Associate Admissions Counselor position at our main campus in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This position assists our Admission Counselors in the recruitment of new students for our traditional undergraduate programs. This person will work closely with the Associate Director and other Admission Counselors to execute targeted recruitment and yield programs and assist in the enrollment process of our Early Start (dual-enrollment) students. This position involves significant travel and active participation in numerous programs on and off-campus to recruit, yield, and orient new students to the University. The individual best suited for this position must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to express their enthusiasm towards higher education. Work hours are generally between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; however, weekly call nights are required and accommodated by flexing time, and some additional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

In addition, the Associate Admissions Counselor is in training to become an Admissions Counselor. In this position, the incumbent will train on the following: meet with prospective students to explain the curriculum, effectively educate prospective students on the benefits of the programs provided by Indiana Tech, represent the university at high school visits and college fairs, and enroll new students from assigned geographical areas. Database management, weekly reports, and achievement of goals will be monitored to attain the desired level of competence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment of first-year students, working closely with students, families, and guidance counselors to enable the University to meet its undergraduate admission goals
  • Recruiting includes communicating with prospective students and their families about the academic programs at Indiana Tech and following up through written, phone, and electronic contact
  • Assist in the enrollment process of Early Start by assisting in the data entry of student information into our databases and answering questions for students and families as it pertains to the program
  • This position involves travel throughout Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois
  • Represent Indiana Tech at college fairs and high school visits
  • Encourage students to fill out information cards for the University
  • Offer and collect applications from interested students
  • Demonstrate professionalism and patience towards high school students and staff
  • Document all prospective student requests, keeping detailed notes while communicating via email, text, and phone to move students from point of interest to apply and ultimately enroll
  • Meet with prospective students while they are on campus visiting or participating in on-campus events
  • Participate in information sessions, education fairs, and related activities aimed at prospective undergraduate students
  • Actively participate in generating ideas to increase enrollment of new students
  • Support the vision and policies of Indiana Tech
  • Support and implement recruitment plans to encourage students to select Indiana Tech early in their high school career
  • Assist in making admission decisions for students who apply to the University
  • Participate in campus community events
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and company policies regarding student recruitment

Qualifications

  • Earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Ability to travel, which requires a valid US driver’s license
  • Must be, and remain, insurable for driving by the university’s automobile insurance company

Knowledge and Skills

  • Candidates must possess strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and be knowledgeable in electronic communication methods
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and recruit students of various backgrounds
  • High level of professionalism
  • Basic computer proficiency, knowledge of Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Overnight travel will be required, usually within a 3-4 hour radius and for up to a week at a time
  • Some weekend events are held, which require working on a Saturday or Sunday throughout the academic year
