Service Aide IThe University of Tennessee’s Career Gateway is looking to fill the temporary assignment of Service Aide I with University Housing. Through temporary assignment placements, Career Gateway allows the opportunity to work with various departments while gaining valuable work experience. Please note that Career Gateway temporary positions do not have benefits, annual leave, or sick leave accrual. Pay Rate: $15.00/hourSchedule: Monday-Friday 7:00-4:00 and when needed Saturday-Sunday 7-2.** THIS POSITION REQUIRES AVAILABILITY FOR OVERTIME HOURSJob Length: Up to a yearThe position will help maintain all University Housing facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition. This is a full-time position opportunity with competitive benefits.
General Public Area Cleaning:
- Clean public areas including but not limited to: lounges, stairwells, lobbies, hallways, recreation rooms, laundry rooms, and multi-purpose rooms.Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip/wax hard surface flooring. Perform carpet care and cleaning. Dust surfaces. Remove trash and recyclable material.
- Clean and disinfect student/residential, staff, and public bathroom/restrooms.
- Unload suppliesWrite up maintenance/custodial work orders.Move furniture.Install mattresses.Wash linens.Turnover guest apartments.Perform special event set-up and takedown.
- Pick-up and remove trash.Weed flower beds.Clean concrete surfaces and walks.Remove snow and ice from walkways.
- Perform touch-up painting. Replace baseboards. Repair custodial equipment. Replace light bulbs.
- Ability to understand custodial industry standards/methods and best practices.Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules.Strong customer service skills.Strong, positive work ethic.Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.Ability to work with both a diverse customer and employee base.Ability to accept directives and instructions and carry out same.
