In collaboration with other program and School of Business colleagues, this role manages the day-to-day operations of an engaging, supportive, and inclusive graduate degree program student experience. Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates programs and processes to support student and program success. This role allows a student affairs staff member to bridge the gap between traditional academic and student services and enable student development on a variety of levels.Job Description
About the Role
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates operational, logistical, and administrative functions associated with the Charlotte MBA program student experience.
- Works in an advising capacity with individual students, student teams, and student leaders.
- Champions a student success orientation across the program experience, continuously assessing student needs and working proactively to support success on individual and group levels.
- Develops and coordinates marquee program events (e.g. new student orientation/transition programming, team-building events, milestone celebrations, and other co-curricular events), including liaising with internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.
- In collaboration with other staff and faculty members, provides for student experiences in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular contexts that align with our mission.
- Supports initiatives to foster understanding and increase cross-cultural exchange to deepen student learning about self and others in a diverse community.
- Works directly to support and advocate for students in personal, social, or academic distress.
- In conjunction with centralized ISS staff in the school, liaises directly with student support and resource offices at Wake Forest to provide world-class graduate business student services and processes (partner units include CLASS, University Counseling Center, Student Health Services, University Police, Identity/Affinity Centers, etc.).
- Manages regular program-wide communications that include student engagement and leadership opportunities, resources, upcoming events, feedback venues, as well as relevant deadlines/deliverables.
- Actively collaborates with and creatively engages colleagues serving in other functional areas (EM, MRE, Registrar, etc.) as it relates to the student experience.
Other Functions:
- Provides administrative guidance to Information Technology and Facilities Management in the Charlotte Center.
- Monitors team/Charlotte facility budget.
- Supervises Charlotte site Administrative support staff
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse community of student, staff colleagues, and faculty members.
- Commitment to the values of multiculturalism and diversity and the ability to build inclusive and respectful communities where differences are appreciated and engaged
- Knowledge and understanding of academic cultures, rules, and regulations; including knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, and listening capabilities
Excellent organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Master’s degree in student affairs/personnel administration or a closely related field is preferred.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for own work.
- May provide leadership or direction to student workers or more junior staff.
Physical Requirements:
Work primarily involves sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
