SCC is seeking a Full-time Head Coach - Men's Baseball/Academic Adviser for our Athletic Department.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Organize, manage and administer all facets of a NJCAA Division I baseball program.

Delivers services to students and the community which may include career counseling, job search, academic and/or career/technical programs advising, planning student events, assisting with accommodations and meeting the academic advising needs of special interest groups such as student-athletes, international students, returning learners, and students on academic warning and probation. May include assisting students with usage of the career software, adaptive technology, internet resources, the college connection, and degree audit. Make referrals of students to appropriate College and community resources, as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Head Baseball Coach (.5 FTE)

Responsible for all aspects of program operation and development, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, monitoring of student athletes academic progress, organization and execution of practices and competitions for both the traditional (spring) and non-traditional seasons (fall).

Responsible for budget preparation, fund raising, travel arrangements, equipment distribution and inventory, scouting, strength and conditioning, off-season program, baseball campus, overall administration of the program and duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics in accordance with applicable rules and regulations of the Athletic Department, the College, MCCAC, NJCAA and other related associations.

Demonstrates effective organizational, supervisory, promotional, budget management and computer skills.

The Head Coach will be a person of integrity, high ethical standards and exhibit a strict adherence to NJCAA, the College, departmental rules and regulations with a commitment to student achievement in academics.

Academic Counselor (.5 FTE)

Daily academic counseling appointments and services for new and current students. Refers students to appropriate services, including outside agencies, as needed.

Provides success strategies to students who are identified as high risk (success semester, academic warning, and academic probation).

Assists with departmental and campus functions, i.e., job fair, high school counselor day, returning learners workshops, Allied health information fairs, etc, as appropriate.

Attends functions hosted by area college/universities on new and updated programs/majors, as departmental staffing allows.

Serves on College committees, as deemed appropriate by supervisor.

Promotes the College and its programs to the College community.

Tracks data and prepares reports/transfer materials, as assigned.

Participates in Strategic Planning.

Interprets test results.

Confers with faculty, staff, administration, and outside agencies and institutions, as needed.

Communicates with students and advocates for unmet needs and interests.

Utilizes the College student information system, including electronic technology such as Degree Audit and the registration module.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant Baseball Coach

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

General: Bachelor's degree in Education, Behavioral or Social Sciences or related field. Head Baseball Coach: Three years of intercollegiate baseball coaching experience (head coach/assistant) preferred, or head coach at the senior high school level. Intercollegiate playing experience preferred. Academic Counselor: Master's degree preferred; Math, writing, effective communication and computer skills are essential. Minimum two years related full-time work experience with emphasis in adult education, counseling, student personnel, human resources or other post-secondary related experience.
