Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications under the direction of a Pharmacist. They may measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. Technicians will process prescriptions and bill insurance, troubleshooting insurance rejects and problems. They will also order, update, and maintain inventory.

• This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.
• All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have pharmacy technician license/certification.

• Working knowledge of retail pharmacy operations (typically 1-3 years of experience.)

Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval. Employee eligibility depends on the likelihood of the employee succeeding in a remote work arrangement and the supervisor’s ability to manage remote workers. Departments and/or Human Resources may amend, alter, change, delete, or modify eligibility.

Up to $18/hour

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
