QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution. National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certified (NATABOC). Eligible for licensure in the State of New York, and current certification in First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. A deep appreciation for the collegiate athletic experience and its role in a college environment; a valid driver’s license and ability to travel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Non-traditional work schedule (nights & weekends); a willingness and ability to work outside and handle relevant equipment for such purposes also required.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Assistant Athletic Trainer reports to the Head Athletic Trainer or his/her designee and performs the following duties:

1. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services for all NJCAA athletic programs and will be responsible for daily practice and game athletic training coverage, coordinating all treatments, and physician referrals.
2. Work with the Head Athletic Trainer and Student Health Services to provide day-to-day general medical coverage for student-athletes.
3. The responsibilities and duties for this position requires varying schedules, including weekends, evenings, and light to moderate lifting.
4. Maintain National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), NY State Licensure, and current CPR/AED certification. Maintain certifications by completing the required continuing education requirements as established by the NATA.
5. Provide day-to-day athletic training services for all student-athletes in the area of injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries.

6. Responsible for providing educational programs for student-athletes, coaches, and staff related to general health, current trends in sports medicine, nutrition, and sports supplements.
7. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive medical records on each student-athlete, including insurance correspondence.
8. Assures that all student athletes participating on HVCC athletic teams are medically eligible pursuant to the policies of HVCC and the Rules of Eligibility of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
9. Assist in the supervision and provide training to work-study students.
10. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in administering the secondary insurance program, including claims, tracking, monitoring, and correspondence.
11. Assist with organizing department CPR/AED and Concussion Training.
12. Assist with annual budget preparation, review, management, and makes recommendations to the Head Athletic Trainer, as appropriate. 
13. Acts as key member of the Athletic Department’s risk management team and ability to assume responsibility for risk management.
14. Enforce and follow HVCC Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures 
15. Willingness to learn and communicate relevant NJCAA Rules to act as a resource for the campus community and student athletes.
16. Travel as needed on a limited basis.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a 10-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $48,000-$52,000.

Hudson Valley Community College serves approximately 13,500 students each semester, and employs more than 630 full- and part-time faculty members. In addition, the college sponsors a number of certificate programs that prepare students for selected occupational specialties.

The college, through its Workforce Development Institute, coordinates customized training for many area businesses and government agencies. The Office of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions offers credit-bearing courses at convenient times and places, while the Office of Community and Professional Education offers a wide variety of non-credit and short-term courses that serve a wide range of community and professional needs and interests.
